TV Watching Memory Problems

So I'm watching a TV show and it comes to a commercial. The show is interesting and I'm interested to see what's next. To demonstrate - I offer the following:

Made up example: So I'm watching a true crime show where someone is gearing up for an escape from their kidnapper/killer. I'm on the edge of my seat. What is going to happen? Will they get away? COMMERCIAL BREAK. I run to grab snacks, change laundry, floss my teeth, mow the lawn, whatever! I hear the program start again. I race back in, my anticipation building, feeling absolutely lucky I made it back in time for the program to begin....and....they are recapping the past 10 minutes they just aired. Are you serious? Yea, yea, I know what happened - I was watching, remember? Now, if anyone happened to wander into the room, who hadn't invested the time I had, could be completely up to date with the program, without the time sacrifice I just made. The other person has just been rewarded for NOT watching and I feel like I'm being treated like complete moron with no memory retention skills. I gotta tell ya - it's annoying! I've decided to interpret it as a no confidence vote in their own content OR do they have so little footage, they need to eat up some time with their recap. Hummm, maybe I just figured out their strategy...it's not me, it's them!
